Cardiff City Alternative Sports Pathway – Now Open for Year 9, 10 & 11 Learners
We’re delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for learners in Years 9, 10, and 11 through the Cardiff City Alternative Sports Pathway — a full-time, five-day-a-week alternative provision delivered by Cardiff City FC Community Foundation.
This innovative programme is ideal for learners with a passion for sport, fitness, and hands-on learning. It offers a structured blend of professional sports coaching, academic development, and personal enrichment, helping students progress into further education, apprenticeships, or employment.
Programme Highlights
- Full-time (5 days per week) delivery with Cardiff City FC Community Foundation
- Qualifications available:
- BTEC Level 1 or Level 2 in Sport (depending on entry point)
- Level 2 Essential Skills in Maths, English & Digital Literacy
- NCFE Equality & Diversity
- Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award
- Personal mentoring and coaching from qualified professionals
- Practical sport and fitness sessions at the Cardiff City House of Sport
- Enrichment opportunities including:
- Workshops and guest speakers
- Intergenerational projects with our Veterans
- Exciting perks such as matchday tickets
This provision is perfect for learners who would benefit from a more practical, vocational approach and who thrive in a supportive, engaging environment. Learners will also have the opportunity to work alongside our Veterans at the Cardiff City FC Memorial Garden and collaborate with partners from the construction, engineering, and broadcasting industries — making this a truly unique and inspiring pathway.
