From Monday 6th - Friday 10th November, Cardiff City FC Foundation and Cardiff City FC joined the EFL's annual Week of Action, standing alongside 71 other EFL Clubs and Community Club Organisations to highlight and participate in the event.
Ollie Tanner, Mark McGuinness, Rhianne Oakley and Hollie Smith made a special appearance at our Secondary Education project - a project that supports young people get their education back on track.
The players attended Cardiff West Community High School in Ely – a partner school in our education programme that supports children and young people who are at risk of not achieving their full potential, as they move through the education system and early adulthood.
We provide tailored support to schools like Cardiff West, with improved attendance, behaviour & wellbeing, with students engaging in the delivery of qualifications or mentoring from staff.
By engaging in collaborative activities and supporting each other's growth, young people can develop crucial social skills, boost their self-confidence, and adopt a sense of camaraderie.
The EFL's FIT FANS initiative has helped 1000’s of people – football fans just like you – to achieve long-term improvements in weight loss, physical activity, diet and general wellbeing. Participants on average lost over 5% of their body weight during the 12 week programme.
Fit bluebirds gives Cardiff City Fans the opportunity to learn in a safe and welcoming space supported by our Community Foundation coaches.
Football clubs can inspire hope, passion, and a sense of belonging. Working together, the Club and our communities can achieve great things.
Our aim is to change lives and transform communities by providing a supportive network that encourages growth, wellbeing and a sense of belonging.
Today, our organisation achieves an estimated £11 million of social impact value, thanks to the incredible support of our community.
Foundation Director, Gavin Hawkey, said:
"The EFL Week of Action showcases the collective impact of football clubs in their communities. Last year there were over 100,000 engagements in our activities which generated an estimated £11 million in social value. Of course, our work is about changing lives and transforming communities, so we were delighted to share impact stories of some of our service users."
