Community Foundation Welcomes New Board Members as Part of Trustees’ Week 2025

06 Tachwedd 2025

We're delighted to announce that three new trustees have joined our Board. Paul Wilkins, Victoria Whittingham, and James Askey bring diverse experience and a shared passion for using football to change lives and transform communities.

As we mark Trustees' Week (3-7 November), it's the perfect time to celebrate their appointments and the strength they add to our board as we continue working to improve health and wellbeing, support learning and skills, and build stronger communities across Cardiff and South Wales.

Paul brings distinguished healthcare leadership experience, having started as a paramedic serving South East Wales communities before advancing to senior roles including Director of Velindre Cancer Services and Director of Velindre Charity. His coaching-led approach and passion for developing people will strengthen our commitment to compassionate, collaborative work.

Speaking of his appointment Paul Wilkins said,

"I am honoured to be appointed as a Trustee of the Cardiff City FC Community Foundation. As the official charity of Cardiff City FC, I'm deeply committed to helping the Foundation reach its full potential by building strong connections with our supporters and communities. Together, we can build on the fantastic work of our committed, passionate, and talented staff, and drive meaningful and lasting impact into the future for those in so much need."

"I'm a firm believer in the power of sport and education to change lives, and in the importance of strong community in supporting that. I'm really inspired by the Foundation's impact, and I hope to use my experience in investment banking, growing businesses, and strategising with corporate executive teams to support the Foundation's continued development and positive influence across South Wales."

These appointments come at an exciting time for the Community Foundation as we continue expanding our reach across South Wales. Each trustee shares our belief that football has the power to build lasting connections and foster a sense of belonging.

Welcoming the new trustees, Andrew Diplock, Chair of Trustees, commented,

"We're really pleased to welcome Paul, Victoria, and James to our board. They each bring valuable expertise in leadership, strategic business development, and relationship management that will help us grow our impact across South Wales. Trustees' Week is a brilliant opportunity to recognise not just our new trustees, but all our trustees who give their time and energy to the role. Our board is committed to supporting the Foundation's work, and these appointments add real strength as we look to the future. We're fortunate to have people who truly believe in the power of football to bring communities together and create lasting change."
