Cardiff City FC Foundation and Cardiff City FC celebrated International Women's Day by dedicating the Cardiff City vs. West Bromwich Albion league fixture to the Her Game Too initiative - a campaign that strives for equality in football.
As a reward for their dedication and passion to our projects - we gifted eight official Cardiff City mascot experiences to girls who participate in our sessions week in, week out.
In the last 12 months, the Foundation has worked with over 3,000 female participants through our projects, and we’ll continue to encourage equality across our community initiatives.
In March 2022, Cardiff City FC partnered with Her Game Too and hosted the first dedicated fixture against Preston North End. Similarly, to that day, the West Bromwich Albion fixture marked the celebration of International Women’s Day, and of our continued support for the HerGameToo campaign, and its values.
Recently Cardiff City FC Women’s defender and Cardiff City FC Foundation Ambassador Ffion Price was announced as a Her Game Too champion.
Speaking about this important role, Ffion said:
“It’s great to be a Her Game Too champion because I can help promote and educate everyone about the female game. I feel proud that I can use my voice and experiences to support others. The initiatives within the female game are brilliant. The opportunities, role models and facilities for young girls are appearing within local areas. It’s great to see that barriers are being knocked down and a safe, welcoming environment for young girls is being provided. The foundations and platforms are being laid for future young girls to enjoy!”
