SAVE THE DATE: Community Foundation Futsal Trials
We’re hosting trials for the Community Foundation’s futsal squad at Ocean Park Arena, giving young people in Years 11–13 the opportunity to study while representing Cardiff City FC.
Girls from Baden Powell Primary School in Splott represented Cardiff City FC in the regional heats of the Premier League Primary Stars National Girls tournament, in a bid to claim their place at the 2023 finals.
Ten regional tournaments will be staged at community facilities across the country, with hundreds of young people representing Premier League, EFL and National League clubs hoping to win the opportunity to play at Elland Road, home of Leeds United, in the playing kit of their respective professional football club.
The National Girls Football Tournament is one of the competition elements of the Premier League Primary Stars programme. Launched in 2017 and available to every primary school in England and Wales, Premier League Primary Stars uses the appeal of football to help children to be active and develop essential life skills.
Through Premier League Primary Stars, we've worked with over 85 primary schools across the Welsh capital and South Wales Valleys in the last 12 months, delivering over 2,000 P.E and over 350 classroom-based sessions.
Early Years and Primary Education Coordinator, Luke Jenkins-Jones said:
"It's great for our participants to have experiences like these through Premier League Primary Stars. Being able to offer these experiences to our partner schools is a perfect example of how we're using the power of football to engage children in and outside the classroom. Thank you to the Premier League and Premier League Charitable Fund for their continued support."
