Sport Education Open Evening: Study with us!
We're giving anyone the age between 16-19 the opportunity to learn more about the NCFE and BTEC Sport courses we have to offer at our Open Evening on 12th February at Cardiff City House of Sport.
Every minute, somewhere in the world, a man dies by suicide.
That’s 90 sons, husbands, brothers and fathers for every 90 minute game of the Football World Cup. By the full-time whistle of the final and 64th match, over 5,760 males will have died by suicide.
Cardiff City FC Community Foundation have partnered with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and The Lions Barber Collective to address the stigma surrounding mental health and tackle the suicide issues amongst young men.
We welcomed both The Lions Barber Collective and Papyrus to Cardiff City House of Sport to offer free haircuts to our post-16 education students and tutors, encouraging them to open up through conversation in a relaxed environment.
The offer was then opened up to City supporters on Level 4 at Cardiff City Stadium pre and post-match as the Bluebirds hosted West Bromwich Albion.
Speaking at the event, Head of Community Development, Zac Lyndon-Jones said:
"We're extremely proud to work in partnership with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and The Lions Barbers Collective to hold this event - it was a unique way to engage with our young people and Cardiff City FC fans to participate in conversations around mental health.
"We are committed to helping people on their mental health journey and it was a fantastic way to provide longer lasting opportunities and support."
