Celebrating Our Impact at Cardiff City Stadium
Our celebration also gave us the opportunity to release our 2022/23 Impact Report - a document that showcases the work we've been doing across Cardiff City FC communities and the stories behind it.
02 September 2022
Cardiff City FC Foundation has named Greg Morgan as its Community Captain in recognition of his incredible work supporting our Premier League Kicks programme in Blaenau Gwent.
Greg has been a key figure in building the relationship between Cardiff City FC and Blaenau Gwent Youth Service, allowing our Premier League Kicks session to thrive for the past five years.
The Bluebirds welcomed Greg to Cardiff City House of Sport alongside a group of beneficiaries from our Ebbw Vale Kicks site.
Foundation Director Gavin Hawkey presented him with a PL30 Community Captain armband, pennant and plaque engraved with Greg’s name – which was added to the Premier League Trophy plinth that was also present at Cardiff City House of Sport as part of the Premier League’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
Premier League Kicks provides free football sessions in a safe environment for young people and through Greg’s passion and determination has seen a huge decrease in anti-social behaviour in and around the Blaenau Gwent area.
Through our partnership with Blaenau Gwent Youth Service, our Premier League Kicks sessions have welcomed over 250 young people in the past five years thanks to Greg’s hard work.
Starting as one session on a Friday night, our Ebbw Vale site now runs three times a week within the local authority, with countless numbers of young people taking part in football sessions and relevant workshops.
Speaking after receiving
his award, Greg said:
“It’s an absolute honour for me to receive this recognition from Cardiff City FC and Cardiff City FC Foundation – I’m in complete shock.
“The Premier League Kicks partnership in Ebbw Vale between Cardiff City and Blaenau Gwent Youth Service has thrived during its five-year duration and for us to be able to provide these opportunities for young people in our local area is amazing.”
