Supporting young people's transition to secondary education

13 September 2021

Cardiff City FC Foundation is continuing to support young people during the summer holidays thanks to the Premier League Summer Sessions.

Pupils joining Cardiff West Community High School in September took part in a Transition Day which provided an insight into secondary school life. Pupils enjoyed team-building activities, engaged with motivational speaker Jamie Denyer (The Grief Preacher), and took part in a workshop with Show Racism the Red Card Wales.

The day was designed to increase confidence, develop positive attitudes, and equip pupils with the tools they need to make the transition to secondary school.

By once again teaming up with Show Racism the Red Card Wales, we're re-affirming our commitment to celebrating diversity and challenge discrimination.

Show Racism the Red Card helped raise awareness about racism in society

Cardiff City FC Women's first-team players and Foundation Ambassadors Hannah Daley and Ffion Price were also in attendance to show their support and offer advice to the pupils involved.

The Foundation's Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion lead, Chris Foot said:

"It's important that we provide the young people we work with the opportunity to access information around racism and discrimination so they can understand and challenge the behaviours of those who think it's acceptable.

The Foundation will continue to work with our partners, beneficiaries to ensure our communities are welcoming and inclusive."
