Female participants from several of Cardiff City FC Foundation’s projects accompanied Cardiff City FC Women as matchday mascots in-front of a record-breaking crowd at Cardiff City Stadium on Wednesday 16th November.
In a huge night for the women’s game in Wales, 11 of our beneficiaries from projects including Premier League Primary Stars and Bluebirds Ability walked out alongside their heroes in front of over 5,000 fans prior to the 9-0 victory at CCS.
Currently sitting top of the Adran Premier League, Cardiff City FC Women are inspiring more and more women and girls to take part in football through the capital and beyond.
Speaking on the night, Cardiff City FC Women’s First Team manager Iain Darbyshire said:
“It’s so important that we use our platform to inspire more young women and girls to take part in football.
“Working in partnership with Cardiff City FC Foundation by gifting these mascot places and making a positive impact in our communities, we’ll aim to bring through the next generation of players and hopefully motivate young women and girls to take part in not just football, but others sports too.”
Mum of one of our mascots on the night, Natalie O'Mahoney said:
"A huge thank you to the Foundation for giving Scarlett the opportunity of a lifetime - she had a brilliant evening.
"A keen footballer herself, Scarlett made memories to last forever and she's more motivated than ever to follow her footballing dreams in the future!"
In the last 12 months, the Foundation has worked with over 3,000 female participants through our projects, and we’ll continue to encourage equality across our community initiatives.
