We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming and supportive environment so that our students can thrive. Our courses provide students with an insight into the practicalities of the sports industry, in a non-traditional learning environment.
The structure of the BTEC Level 2 course is the perfect balance between classroom-based learning and practical activities. We offer our students a relaxed atmosphere to learn and the opportunity to transfer what they’ve learned in the classroom through structured, practical training sessions.
Students will work to complete a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport, which is an academic equivalent to 4 GCSEs. We provide fantastic progression opportunities for those learners with aspirations to study a BTEC Level 3, as well as providing the knowledge and skills needed for employment or apprenticeships.
Students will gain the knowledge required for a substantial understanding of the principles of sport. Lesson modules include anatomy, physiology, sports psychology, sports coaching, and sports research.
Duration: 1 Year
Study mode: Full-time
In partnership with Cardiff and Vale College, our passionate tutors work closely with each individual to understand their needs to help them progress to university or employment. We support student’s ambition to progress into higher education or employment by mentoring, using our expertise, and our ability to arrange relevant work experience within the sports industry.
Theoretical lessons cover a wide range of subjects. Units include Anatomy and Physiology, Coaching for Performance and Fitness Testing.
As part of the course, students will be offered the chance to complete Essential Skills Wales qualifications and re-sit Maths and English GCSEs.
This qualification is equivalent to three A-levels and provides the entry requirements for most major Universities.
We also provide students with extra-curricular opportunities throughout the course, including volunteering opportunities with Cardiff City Football Club, and the chance to complete FAW Level 1 coaching qualifications.
Duration: 2 Years
Study mode: Full-time
One of the most unique aspects of the Further Education programme is that our student's time is split between theory and practical learning. Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced small-sided football match, the game places a large emphasis on technical skill-and-ability in situations of high pressure. We boast 3 modern Futsal courts where our students represent Cardiff City FC in the Association of Colleges Futsal League, playing against Premier League and English Football League opposition on a weekly basis.
