Community Foundation Day 24: Matchday Highlights

21 October 2024

Changing lives, transforming communities

Saturday’s fixture against Plymouth Argyle was not only a great result on the pitch but an incredible one for us at the Cardiff City FC Community Foundation as we were able to showcase our work and impact with you – the fans.

As soon as the gates opened our team were busy throughout the stadium chatting about their work across South Wales and collecting your generous donations, highlighting our hat-trick of goals – to improve health and wellbeing, support learning and skills, and build stronger communities.

game day moments

Proudly backed by matchday sponsors, Everlast Gyms, Community Foundation staff from our further and higher education provision went head-to-head in a Relay Row challenge – competing to row the most 1.25 km until kick off!

Fans were also treated to a performance by pupils from Pencaerau Primary School, one of the Community Foundation’s partner schools. As beneficiaries of our Primary School services, they were selected to perform as a token of appreciation for their hard work throughout the last academic year.

together, we can make a difference that lasts a lifetime.

Some of our youngest beneficiaries had the opportunity to walk out on the pitch as mascots with their favourite players, selected and recognised for their leadership and inclusion during soccer schools and their Premier League primary stars programme.

Gabriella, Amari, Lucas, and Alfee had the opportunity to discuss their experiences and the impact of our education and outreach programmes with special guests Alex Barros-Curtis and Jack Sargeant MS, whom we were thrilled to welcome to the Bluebirds Stadium.

Primary Education Coordinator, Luke Jenkins Jones said:

“Our football-themed educational resources and challenges help take learning to the next level. We were thrilled to bring the children who have benefited from our primary education services to the stadium, giving them this well-deserved experience and showcasing their progress and development to our guests."

LEARN MORE ABOUT PROJECTS

More beneficiaries from our Secondary Education and Kicks projects took to the pitch for centre circle duties and even faced off against Bartley in a halftime penalty shootout, chosen for their dedication and hard work.

The players also proudly took to the pitch in Community Foundation warm-up tops and displayed the Foundation’s logo on their shirts during the match. You can now bid on a match-worn shirt, with all proceeds going directly to the Community Foundation to support our continued life-changing work.

There's still time to bid here!

125 Years of History, a Future to Shape

Through our education programmes, health initiatives, and outreach projects, we're helping people across South Wales reach their full potential. This season, we're aiming to raise £125k to support the future of these services. But to do this, we need your help.
