Cardiff and Vale College’s Sports Academies have celebrated another outstanding year at the CAVC 2026 Sport Awards.
Cardiff City FC Community Foundation students have continued to excel throughout 2025-26, with their hard work and dedication recognised by both staff and peers.
Studying towards the NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Sport & Physical Activity, situated at Cardiff City House of Sport, they have been celebrated for their progression in Futsal, academic achievements and participation in competitions and tournaments.
A massive congratulations to Jahmai Owusu-Spettie, Taya Furnish, Lexie Youdall, Aiden Elliot, Hope Rees, Adam Fisher and Lereah Griffiths on winning their well-earned awards that evening.
Jahmai has a mature mindset and a willingness to work hard, which is a coach’s dream. He's eager to soak up information and will try to implement this into his game. Jahmai began his journey at the beginning of the year as an athlete with potential – and, combined with his great attitude and hard work, it is destiny for Jahmai to succeed with us at Cardiff City FC Community Foundation.
Taya has shown unbelievable commitment this season, as well as extreme bravery on the court when facing shots as our goalkeeper. She has had her fair share of injuries because of this, but this hasn’t deterred her from playing – showing great dedication to the team. This level of consistency and growth deserves recognition. Well done, Taya.
Lexie’s game has skyrocketed this season, taking to Futsal effortlessly. Her explosive speed, incredible footwork and ability in front of goal lends itself perfectly to the Futsal court – and we’ve seen how a commitment to developing her game can further amplify these qualities. This impressive growth has earned her the admiration and recognition from her peers in winning this award.
Aiden has been one of the most committed players this season. His development across the season has resulted in huge performances throughout, and goals added into the mix too. Aidan has rightfully been recognised by his peers for his performances and hard work in winning this award – and we look forward to seeing him develop his game further.
Hope has had a fantastic year both in the classroom and on the court. In both settings, she is always willing to learn and give her energy, which she has in abundance. On the court especially, she has thrived – becoming a killer in front of goal with her wicked left foot. Hope’s coaches are pleased that Hope gets the recognition she deserves after a year of hard work.
Adam has maximised his growth on and off the court this season through sheer effort and dedication. His full engagement into the programme has seen Adam reap the rewards, as demonstrated by his promotion to the 1st team this season. Adam has more potential to fulfil and we look forward to seeing where his progress takes him in the future.
Lereah has been a consistent performer all season long, showing a positive attitude and love for the game. Her high spirits and energy always lift the session or matchday, which helps drive the team forward. Lereah also has the playing ability to match her character – boasting an ability to connect play via intricate passing to make her an invaluable member of the team.
