25th October 2016

Cardiff City FC Foundation has invited volunteers to celebrate in recognition of the good work and positive contribution they have made to the success of the Foundation.

The day will provide volunteers with the opportunity to tell their story of how they have worked alongside the Foundation, whilst also providing an opportune time for Foundation staff to reflect on the positive impact volunteering has had on projects and on individual participants.

Volunteers will then have the chance to enjoy a ticket to the home match against Wigan Athletic where they will take part in a pitch side presentation at Cardiff City Stadium.

One successful volunteer who has thrived working alongside the Foundation is Luke Baker. Luke became one of the first individuals with Down’s syndrome to earn his FA Level 1 coaching badge, he has coached at a number of sessions run by Cardiff City FC Foundation, volunteering within the Foundation’s Disability & Health Department since September 2015.

Volunteers at the Foundation offer support in a number of capacities as others have shown.

Sam Robinson, who recently graduated with a Business Management Degree has supported the Foundation in an Online Digital Marketing role, has helped with the running of the Foundations online presence.

Commenting on how it has benefitted him Sam said, “Having the freedom to be able to grow the Foundation’s online community, engage with the community and increase awareness of the brand is a fantastic opportunity for me. I’d like to have a career in digital marketing and the experience is essential for my development”.

The Foundation has also been aided by volunteers from its Education Programmes.

Luke Long, who studies on the Foundation’s ‘Foundation Degree in Community Football and Coaching Development’, has been a frequent volunteer since joining the course. He has gained valuable insights into different sectors of the Sport & Leisure industry, and has become a real asset to the Foundation.

Cardiff City FC Foundation would like to issue its thanks to every volunteer ahead of the event. The Foundation truly values the help, support and dedication of all involved. Without the help that we receive we would not be able to offer such professional, enjoyable and life changing opportunities to communities across South Wales.
