Tafwyl 2014’s main event, Tafwyl Fair, was held at Cardiff Castle on Saturday 12th July with 16,500 people coming through the Castle doors as part of a week-long programme of Welsh Language activities.
There were numerous stalls in the fair promoting Welsh produce, as well as a vast range of workshops, literary sessions, music, cookery, art, drama sessions and sport activities. The main stage saw live performances by the most successful folk, rock and pop artists in the Welsh pop scene, acoustic sessions, street entertainers, dance sessions, sports field, and activities for children of all ages.
Cardiff City Community & Education Foundation attended the Tafwyl Fair taking along an inflatable penalty shoot-out, inviting hundreds of children to take their best shot at the target. The Foundation staff who attended the festival were Welsh speaking and best suited to engage with the 820 people that took part in the penalty shoot-out.
The UEFA Super Cup trophy was placed next to the inflatable, allowing for children of all ages to take a shot at the penalty shoot out and then get their picture taken with the trophy that will be contested for, at the Cardiff City Stadium on 12th August between Real Madrid and Sevilla.
