Thousands across the region to take on new-look Gung-ho! as world’s biggest inflatable obstacle course returns to Wales.
Cardiff City FC Foundation is offering a limited amount of FREE tickets to watch Cardiff City FC Vs Ipswich Town if fans are brave enough to take the world’s biggest inflatable obstacle course.
Gung-Ho! Seriously Fun 5k, featuring ten tricky obstacles including Europe’s tallest inflatable slide, will take place at 10am in Bute Park on Saturday, 18th March, the same day The Bluebirds take on Ipswich at home.
Supporters who go Gung-Ho! and raise at least £20 for Cardiff City FC Foundation will get to watch the game for free, with a limit of 30 tickets being given away.
Huw Day, spokesman for the Foundation, said: “This year we want to go up a gear with our fundraising and Gung-Ho! is something different and exciting we can be involved with.
“It is something that our beneficiaries, partners and staff can take part in – it is such a fun, inclusive event so it is great so many people can participate.”
Last year Gung-Ho! Cardiff was a sell-out, with 5,000 people taking on the Total Wipeout-style 5k. This time around it will be bigger and better than ever with a host of new obstacles and tweaks to existing obstacles. Thrill-seekers will hit speeds of up to 40MPH on the five-storey-high, 200ft-long Thriller after organisers added WATER to the slide.
Meanwhile, new obstacles including a ‘gauntlet’ will join the line-up of inflatables which will use the same amount of air needed to blow-up 100 MILLION footballs. The event is the brainchild of Cardiff-born Cbeebies star Alex Winters, who can’t wait to bring his creation back home.
Alex, a lifelong Bluebirds fan, said: “As a local lad from Cardiff I had always dreamed of bringing Gung-Ho! to the city, and in 2016 it finally happened – and what a day it was! As soon as the event had come to an end I knew I wanted to bring Gung-Ho! home again, and thankfully we have been able to do that for 2017.
“This is a perfect partnership for us, and I hope as many people as possible sign up to take part, have fun, and raise money to help continue the fantastic work the foundation does.”
Supporters will get a sneak peak of some of what is in store at Gung-Ho! at half time during the match with Burton Albion this Saturday. Three lucky fans will go head to head in trying to score using giant inflatable balls – which will fill an inflatable ball pit at Gung-Ho! – to win tickets to the Bute Park event.
Runners, who must be at least 4ft tall, receive a free bib with race number, Gung-Ho! t-shirt and headband, while any spectators can attend for free.
