Cardiff City Women took three points from their second game of the season against Port Talbot Town Ladies in the Women’s Welsh Premier League. It was the Bluebirds’ first home game of the campaign at Leckwith Stadium.
After fifteen minutes, a slow start to the game eventually saw the visitors create the first decent chance to open the scoring – an opportunity that Town failed to capitalize on and set Cardiff up nicely to punish their opponents there on.
Two goals before the half time whistle for Shannon Evans, brought her season total up to three from just two games – an impressive start for the left-back who is currently playing upfront in place of the injured Lisa Bird.
Alice Broadley joined Evans on the score sheet in the second half to extend the Bluebirds’ lead to three, with a forth nearly added in the closing minutes of the game.
It was a good run out for Joel Hutton’s side, setting themselves up nicely for their next fixture on the road, against Llandudno Ladies on Sunday 27th September.
