Thank You For Your Support

On Saturday 23rd April Cardiff City FC Foundation celebrated its third annual Foundation Day, with the day itself proving to be a huge success and a great opportunity to showcase the work of the Foundation.

Foundation Day

As well as the fundraising on the day, the Cardiff City FC First Team squad generously donated a day’s wage to the Foundation as part of the celebration, with much of this now to be used as match funding for the ‘All Skilled Up’ Literacy Project.

Craig Noone Surprises Fan

Ahead of Foundation Day, Craig Noone surprised Bluebird fanatic and Autism session participant Jamie by turning up on his doorstep and offering him a lift to his scheduled training session that evening. Jamie naturally took Craig up on his offer and was keen to ride in the front with fan’s favourite Craig.

Jamie is a young man with Autism who currently attends weekly sessions delivered by the Foundation in conjunction with Cardiff based charity Autism Puzzles. Autism Puzzles supports hundreds of children and parents living with Autism and related conditions across South Wales. The partnership with Cardiff City FC Foundation sees a member of our delivery team provide weekly football specific sessions to the participants in a fun, safe and rewarding environment that caters to the specific needs of the group.

On the way to the training session the conversation was in full flow and Jamie was immediately put at ease with Craig and engaged in meaningful conversation during the journey to the session. On the way there Jamie mentioned to Craig that due to his Autism his father never thought that he would be able to get him along to the game due to the loud noises associated with a football atmosphere, however this is something that Jamie confessed he really enjoyed and he now attends week in week out to support his team.

When speaking to Craig, Jamie also said that he has seen all of the videos where people are surprised by their idols, but never thought it would happen to him. It was evident from the experience that Jamie was blown away by what Craig had done, and if there ever were evidence to show that such a small gesture from a professional footballer can make such a massive difference, then this certainly was one of those.

Whilst at the session, Craig joined in and then after the session was on hand to present tickets for the upcoming fixture against Derby County to all those in attendance and their parents.
