A huge ‘congratulations’ goes out to Cardiff City FC Foundation’s Women and Girls’ Development Manager, Damian Flynn for receiving the Community Coach of the Year Award at the Nation Radio Sports Awards 2015 on Wednesday 4th November.
This year’s gala event took place at the SSE Swalec Stadium, with many special guests in attendance, including Westlife’s very own Shane Filan, and Cardiff City’s Federico Macheda.
Damian was amongst two other nominees for the award, but claimed the accolade through a clear majority of the public’s vote.
“Winning this award truly is an honour. I love coaching, and I’d love to think that the work I do, and Cardiff City Foundation does, can make a real difference. Women and Girls’ football has grown massively over recent years and we’ve built a really strong department for coaching provision across South Wales.”
“I’d like to thank Chairman of the Women’s Team, Mike Thomas and also Director of Sport, Simon Stevens for encouraging and supporting my vision for the department.”
To date, Damian’s career with the Foundation spans over five years, and his diligence and hard-working nature has seen him progress immensely as both a coach and a mentor. Damian’s enthusiasm for women and girls’ football excels at the demand of his role, which requires more input than a typical full-time job. Damian has a sincere passion for improving and developing opportunities for all involved with Cardiff City FC Foundation – junior, senior and development teams.
Damian’s recognition does not stop there as he has also been shortlisted for the Champion of the Women’s Game Award at the upcoming Football for Good Awards in London on the 2nd December. The Awards are the first of their kind to recognise and celebrate all the players, clubs and foundations using football to make the world a better place.
Good Luck Damian!
