Arriva Trains Wales will donate £12,000 per year to the Cardiff FC Foundation for a three year period to aid the Foundation in the sustainment and development of football provision for females across South Wales.

The investment will help the funding of facilities for initial grass-root engagement level, through to First Team training sessions, as well the purchase of important medical equipment and playing and training kits for both the Women’s senior and development squads.

The agreement will also safeguard the long-term future of the development squad which had been under threat of folding due to a lack of funding.

Women and Girls’ Development Manager, at Cardiff City FC Foundation, Damian Flynn said:

“The financial contribution Arriva Trains Wales has made this season will make a huge impact within our Foundation, and help us engage with many more females through sport and football.”

“Our Women’s Senior & Development football squads have already seen the benefits of the sponsorship by granting them the opportunity to now train twice a week at the brand new 3G facility at Leckwith, and also play at its fantastic internal stadium pitch.”

“We are extremely grateful of Arriva Trains Wales’ contribution and are also excited for the remainder of the season, and the years to come.”

Rob Phillips, Finance Director at Arriva Trains Wales, said:

“We are delighted to work with the Cardiff City FC Foundation in promoting Women’s football and a healthier lifestyle to the wider community. Hopefully this donation will encourage more women to take up football and allow the Women’s Senior & Development squads to flourish.

We look forward to working with the Foundation over the next few years and wish both teams the best of luck for the forthcoming season.”
