A fantastic achievement for our very own Charlotte Carpenter, who has become the first Fifa-accredited female referee from Wales.
After only being a referee for three years, Charlotte’s achievement will now allow her to officiate for women’s tournaments overseas since being added to the international body’s list of international referees.
Charlotte, who is also a coach for Cardiff City Foundation’s multi-sport primary education delivery has highlighted her aspirations to referee at FIFA’s elite levels.
“Obviously, to referee at the Champions League and the World Cup is my ultimate ambition. I’m proud of how far I’ve managed to come in such a short space of time, so I do have faith in myself to go as far as I possibly can.
Raising the profile of female referees in general, and especially in Wales is also something I’m happy to be doing.”
Primary Education Manager, Joel Hutton spoke on behalf of his department and Cardiff City Foundation:
“We’re very supportive of Charlotte’s professional development, and hope her achievements can be an additional inspiration to everyone. Charlotte is a very diligent member of our team and we’re delighted that she has achieved her personal targets whilst keeping up a top level of coaching.”
